Trade report, 16 October 2026: two baskets, one NDX leg down

Two index baskets on a day the Nasdaq fell 2.1 %: NDX −17.4 points first, then four positions up (NDX +31.8 and +95.4, SP500 +14.9 and +10.8 points). Nothing held over the weekend.

Platform time UTC+3. Every entry, exit and result comes from the trading account's closed-position history. Returns for XFX investors are produced by Darwinex's risk engine and differ from these numbers — see the section on XFX investors below.

The trades, on the charts

Five long positions in two index baskets, all opened and closed on Friday evening. Basket 1 paired SP500 and NDX and added a second, smaller NDX position ten minutes later; basket 2 paired SP500 and NDX again an hour after the first closed. One chart per instrument, the one with the loss first. The green triangle is an entry, the dot the exit (green closed up, red closed down), the shaded band the time the position was held, and the numbers match the list under each chart.

The loss, first

The loss, first: NDX −17.4 points in basket 2, with its paired SP500 leg +10.8 points

The day's only loser was the NDX leg of basket 2: bought at 29,205.1 at 21:29 and closed at 29,187.7 at 22:57 — −17.4 points after 1 h 27 min. Its SP500 twin, bought six seconds later at 7,643.7 and closed at 7,654.5 at 22:56, finished +10.8 points. On both charts the indices fell for about half an hour after the entries, then recovered; at the exit SP500 was back above its entry, NDX still just below its own.

What the record shows: in basket 1 a second NDX position was bought ten minutes after the first, 66.6 points lower, and all three positions of that basket were closed together at 20:41. Everything was closed before the US close, so nothing was carried into the weekend. On a day the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.14 %, the loss is small, and it is still the first thing in this report.

Costs of the day

Commission on all five positions; no overnight financing and no dividend adjustments. Costs took 1.3 % of the day's gross trading result. They are part of the record, so they are part of every report.

What XFX investors saw

DARWIN XFX replicates this account's positions through Darwinex's risk engine, which targets a monthly value-at-risk of 6.5 % (95 %) and scales position sizes accordingly. An investor's result for 16 October is therefore the change in the DARWIN's quote, published on the XFX page at Darwinex, not the figures above. That is also why these reports are written in points, not currency: points describe the trading; the DARWIN's quote describes the investment.

About the charts

Entry and exit prices and times are the account's real fills. The market lines are public reference series at 5-minute closes, via Yahoo Finance: the Nasdaq-100 E-mini futures (shifted down by 195.7 points) and the S&P 500 E-mini futures (shifted down by 47.3 points). Each shift is the average gap between the reference series and the account's CFD price at that instrument's fills, so that the line sits on the same price scale as the fills. The charts show 19:30–23:30, the part of the evening around the two baskets. The exits of NDX positions 1 and 2 were three seconds and three points apart, so their dots overlap on the chart. The shape of the day is the market's; the levels of the fills are the account's.
